Volunteering Benefits

Whether you are looking for a meaningful way to spend a day or a longer-term commitment, the USC Viterbi K-12 STEM Center offers a range of volunteer opportunities with local elementary, middle, and high school students.
Thrive and flourish with volunteering as a wellness practice.

Volunteering for USC Students

Volunteer for one of our Center's programs like SHINE, or at one of our Center events like MESA Day or Robotics Open House.

Faculty

One of our goals is to share the broader impacts of USC Viterbi’s faculty research with our local community. The Center works with USC Viterbi faculty to help adapt, align, and share concepts from their research with K-12 students, teachers, and/or families. USC Viterbi faculty looking to have direct contact with K-12 audiences can find out more on our Faculty Broader Impacts Page.

Industry

What is it like to be an engineer? What do scientists do for fun? How can I become a programmer? Students want to know! If you are a STEM industry professional looking to volunteer your time to inspire future generations of scientists, engineers, and programmers, please reach out to k12stem@usc.edu. All Center volunteers interacting with minors will be guided through the process of completing mandatory clearances such as LiveScan fingerprinting and background check.

Community

Community members interested in volunteering for special event days are invited to reach out to k12stem@usc.edu. All Center volunteers interacting with minors will be guided through the process of completing mandatory clearances such as LiveScan fingerprinting and background check.
